Recipe for cheese pastries: Crispy snack made from puff pastry, ready in minutes
Cheese pastries prove that a savory snack doesn't have to be complicated.
Cheese pockets are ideal for a quick snack
Cheese pastries are based on a simple idea: two layers of puff pastry with ham and cheese sandwiched in between, sealed tightly at the edges. During baking, the pastry becomes crisp and flaky, while the cheese inside melts, creating a creamy filling. This combination makes the recipe a reliable snack that requires no complicated ingredient list and can be prepared quickly.
Cheese pastries taste best fresh and warm from the oven, while the cheese is still melting. They're perfect as a party snack, for a buffet, or as a savory treat any time. Leftover pastries are delicious cold or can be crisped up briefly in the oven. And aside from the cheese, which is of course essential, you can also vary the filling. If you prefer salami, use that instead of ham – it tastes just as good. And with diced bell peppers, it becomes a vegetarian snack. Now we'll show you how to make these cheese pastries – here's the recipe!
Ingredients for cheese pastries
You will need: 1 package of puff pastry from the refrigerated section, 4 slices of cooked ham, 4 slices of sliced cheese, paprika, salt, caraway seeds.
Preparation: How to bake quick cheese pastries
First, let the frozen puff pastry sit at room temperature for a short time. Then, roll it out and cut it into eight equally sized, thin rectangles. Top four of the pastry rectangles with a slice of ham (cut into strips) and a slice of cheese. Sprinkle the filling with a little paprika. Cover with the remaining four pastry rectangles and press the edges firmly together to seal the filling during baking. Brush the tops of the pastries with salt water and sprinkle with caraway seeds – this will create the flavorful crust later.
Place the cheese pastries on a baking sheet moistened with water and bake at a moderate heat until golden brown and crispy. Serve immediately while the cheese inside is still melting. Enjoy!
