Miso-marinated salmon: the easy Japanese recipe to give a twist to the usual salmon

If you're looking for a change from the classic salmon fillet with lemon or dill, this recipe is a fantastic alternative with a very interesting Asian twist.

Ingredients · Servings 1
  • 1 salmon fillet
  • 1 tablespoon of white miso paste
  • 1/2 tablespoon of mirin
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of sake (or gin)
  • Sushi rice
  • Miso soup
  • Sesame seeds
  • Chive
Method · 45 min
  1. Prepare the marinade: put the white miso, mirin, sugar and sake in a bowl.
  2. Mix until you obtain a homogeneous paste.
  3. Place the salmon fillet in an ovenproof dish and brush it with the mixture.
  4. Cover the dish with cling film and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (you can leave it in the refrigerator overnight).
  5. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Remove the cling film and bake the salmon for 10 minutes.
  6. Serve with sushi rice and miso soup, and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped chives.
