Bacon and fried chicken in a sandwich: a fusion that's coming to Coral Gables

If you love fine dining and closely follow the New York food scene, get ready, because Miami is about to receive one of the most anticipated collaborations of the year.

Peter Luger Steak House's legendary extra-thick bacon, from the iconic Brooklyn steakhouse with over a century of history, is landing in Coral Gables thanks to Fuku, the famous fried chicken chain.

Starting Friday, October 9, Fuku locations in Coral Gables and West Palm Beach will serve the exclusive “Fuku x Peter Luger Sando”.

This is a limited edition special sandwich that promises to become the most photographed and sought-after dish of the fall.

What does this gastronomic gem contain?

This creation combines the star ingredients that made both brands famous in New York. This achieves a perfect balance between crispiness, smokiness, and juiciness.

The base: a hand-breaded fried chicken breast, which can be chosen in spicy or mild version, served in a Martin's brand potato bun.

The finishing touch: they place a generous slice of Peter Luger's famous thick-cut smoked bacon on top of the chicken.

The special topping: Instead of serving Peter Luger's classic steak sauce on the side, Fuku incorporated it into a spread called "Luger Jam." It's made with the steakhouse's signature sauce and sautéed shallots, and topped with fresh white onion.

To complete the New York experience properly, the menu will offer as its official pairing the Luger Lager, a craft beer born from the alliance between the steakhouse itself and the popular Threes Brewing brewery in Brooklyn.

Two New York legends in Florida

Although both brands originated in New York, their histories are separated by more than 100 years. Peter Luger has been serving its famous dry-aged cuts since 1887.

Fuku, meanwhile, was born in 2015 as an open secret within David Chang's Momofuku Noodle Bar in the East Village. There, the chicken sandwich caused such a sensation that it ended up becoming an independent chain.

This partnership comes just months after Fuku's official arrival in South Florida earlier this year, following the opening of its flagship store on Coral Gables' iconic Miracle Mile last March and its location in West Palm Beach.

The sandwich will be available for a limited time (although they have not yet announced a closing date) and can be ordered for dine-in, takeout, or delivery at both locations.
