Recipe for cauliflower gratin with white sauce and cheese, submitted by Bianca Fauth Lazzarotto

1. Wash and cut the cauliflower into florets.

Ingredients · Servings 5
  • 1 large cauliflower
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of wheat flour
  • 500 ml of milk
  • cheese of your choice to taste
  • 1 carton of heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 100g of bacon
  • 100g of Calabrese
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 medium onion
Method · 40 min
  1. Wash and cut the cauliflower into florets.
  2. In a saucepan, place the cauliflower, water, and salt to taste.
  3. When it comes to a boil, turn off the heat and let it steep in the hot water for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  4. In a pan, fry the bacon, sausage, garlic, and chopped onion until golden brown.
  5. In another saucepan, melt the butter, add the flour and stir well until a smooth paste forms.
  6. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly, and add salt and pepper (to taste).
  7. Add the bacon and sausage mixture and stir until thickened.
  8. Add your preferred cheese to the cream and mix well, then turn off the heat.
  9. Arrange the cauliflower in a baking dish, cover with the cream, and top with cheese (of your choice).
  10. Place in a preheated oven at 200°C and bake until the cheese is golden brown.
  11. Serve and enjoy!
