Halloween eggs with monstrous eyes: the spooky appetizer recipe
4 pers.
Ingredients · Servings 4
- 6 Hard-boiled eggs
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- Cell
- Pepper
- 6 slices of black olives, sliced
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1 pinch of cumin
Method · 10 min
- Cut the hard-boiled eggs in half lengthwise, then carefully remove the yolks without damaging the whites. Place the whites on a platter or serving plate. Next, peel the avocado, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh. Make sure it's soft enough to create a smooth and pleasant filling, perfect for easily stuffing the egg halves.
- Place the egg yolks in a bowl with the avocado flesh, mayonnaise, hot sauce, salt, pepper, and cumin. Mash everything thoroughly with a fork until you have a smooth, well-seasoned, and creamy mixture. Taste and adjust the seasoning to your liking. The texture should be firm enough to hold its shape nicely in the egg whites without collapsing.
- Spoon the avocado mixture into each egg white half. Try to fill each cavity generously to form a neat, even dome. You can smooth the surface slightly or, conversely, leave it a little uneven to accentuate the impressive visual effect. Then arrange the stuffed eggs attractively on a serving platter.
- Place a slice of black olive in the center of each stuffed egg to create the pupil. Then add a small drop of hot sauce on or around the olive to enhance the Halloween effect and evoke a strange, almost bloodshot eye. Take your time with this finishing touch, as it's what gives the recipe its character and makes it particularly fun to serve.
- Place the Halloween eggs in the refrigerator for a few minutes if you'd like them to be extra chilled and have a firmer texture. Take them out just before serving to preserve their attractive appearance. Present them as an appetizer on a large platter, either on their own or alongside other festive bites. These spooky eyes will instantly become a hit with guests of all ages.
