Terra Madre 2026 in Carmagnola: Discovering Lost Pepper Recipes
An off-site event of Terra Madre 2026 will be held in Carmagnola on September 25th, featuring a tasting of ancient Piedmontese pepper-based dishes.
Carmagnola is also joining the Terra Madre 2026 program with an event dedicated to one of the region's most iconic products: peppers.
On Friday, September 25th, at 8:00 PM, Antica Trattoria Monviso, located at Largo Vittorio Veneto 11, will host the tasting session "The Lost Recipes of Carmagnola Peppers," part of the "Off" events of the global event scheduled in Turin, dedicated to biodiversity, nutrition, and food cultures, organized by Slow Food.
The evening will be dedicated to rediscovering ancient Piedmontese family recipes and the biodiversity associated with traditional pepper varieties, through three dishes that revive combinations and consumption methods that are less common today.
The gastronomic journey will feature Fassona strips with “smujà” peppers and green sauce, peperonata with anchovies and Barbera, and heirloom peppers stuffed with meat, bread, and amaretti biscuits.
"These recipes may seem unusual, but they are part of Piedmontese culinary tradition and reflect a wealth of knowledge and eating habits that are also linked to the area's agricultural biodiversity," explain the promoters.
