Nutella Heart Muffins: Tomorrow's Wake-up Will Be Great

A soft breakfast with a creamy surprise in the center: Nutella-filled muffins are a delicious idea to prepare today and make waking up tomorrow even more inviting.

There are some desserts that seem to be made to start the day with something special, and these muffins certainly fall into that category. They're soft and simple on the outside, but simply splitting them in half reveals the filling that makes all the difference: a creamy Nutella center encased in a soft dough. They're perfect for breakfast, but they can also be a delicious snack, paired with milk, coffee, or tea.

Everyone can make these muffins, and the secret is to properly distribute the batter and cream in the molds, ensuring the Nutella stays hidden in the center. They can be prepared ahead of time and stored for the next morning: that way, as soon as you wake up, you can simply set the table and enjoy a different kind of breakfast. To make these soft and delicious Nutella-filled muffins, it's also important not to overcook them, so as to preserve their delicious texture.

Nutella Heart Muffins: Ingredients to Make

  • 2 eggs
  • 120 g of sugar
  • 100 ml of milk
  • 80 ml of seed oil
  • 200 g of 00 flour
  • 8 g of baking powder

Step-by-step process for making Nutella heart muffins.

  • Before you begin, prepare the filling. Distribute small spoonfuls of Nutella on a sheet of parchment paper, keeping them well separated, then place them in the freezer. This step will help the cream hold together more tightly while you prepare it.
  • Crack the eggs into a large bowl, add the sugar and mix the ingredients until you obtain a smooth and slightly frothy mixture.
  • Gradually pour in the seed oil, stirring constantly, then incorporate the milk. Add the vanilla to flavor the mixture.
  • Gradually add the flour, preferably sifted, and continue to work the mixture, avoiding the formation of lumps.
  • Finally, add the baking powder and mix until you obtain a smooth, soft, and homogeneous dough.
  • Place the muffin cups in the muffin pan and pour a first amount of batter into the bottom of each one, without filling the available space completely.
  • Remove the Nutella portions from the freezer and place one in the center of each muffin, trying not to push it all the way to the bottom of the muffin cup.
  • Cover the Nutella center with more batter. Don't fill the molds to the brim because the muffins will expand during baking.
  • Transfer the pan to the preheated oven and bake at about 180°C (350°F) until the muffins are puffed up and lightly golden. Baking times may vary depending on your oven and the size of your muffin tins.
  • Check the batter for doneness, avoiding inserting the toothpick directly into the Nutella center. Once done, remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool.
  • Before serving, you can dust them lightly with powdered sugar. Keep them tightly covered if you plan to enjoy them the next morning.

Making them in the evening means having a little surprise ready for the next day. Once you open the muffin, the contrast between the soft dough and the delicious Nutella filling makes breakfast decidedly more inviting. To enjoy them even more in the morning, you can reheat them just before serving, without overheating, so they have a pleasantly soft texture. With a cup of milk or a good coffee on the side, these muffins can truly transform a normal morning into a moment to look forward to.
