Bonne Maman’s new chilled dessert pots are here to rival Gü
There’s something very appealing about a chilled dessert pot: no slicing, sharing, leftovers or washing up a serving bowl afterwards. Just grab a spoon and get stuck in. Now, Bonne Maman is expanding its range with two new flavours, Vanilla Pot and Coffee Pot, joining its existing Chocolate Pot.
Presented in Bonne Maman’s familiar little glass jars, both desserts are made with simple ingredients including fresh cream, whole milk and eggs. The vanilla pot promises a delicate, creamy flavour, while the coffee pot should offer something a little bolder and more grown-up.
They’re available now in Tesco, Waitrose and Morrisons, priced at £2.60 for a twin pack of 115g pots. They’ll also launch in Asda from 15 October.
I’m particularly tempted by the coffee pot for an after-dinner treat when I want something indulgent but not quite as heavy as a slice of cake. The vanilla pot sounds like the more crowd-pleasing option and would work well served with fresh berries or a few crumbled biscuits on top. You could also enjoy both straight from the fridge for a very low-effort dessert tasting.
Bonne Maman is arriving at a time when individual chilled desserts seem to be exploding across the market, likely facilitated by the demand for smaller portions as GLP-1s increasingly influence appetites. Gü and Pots & Co have built up ever-expanding ranges of puddings, mousses, cheesecakes and fruity pots, offering a restaurant-style dessert in a compact format. Pret has also joined the trend this year with two new creations: a Dubai-style chocolate pot topped with pistachios and a banoffee pot made with banana, caramel, cream and a granola base.
Supermarkets are clearly cottoning on, too. M&S now has a sizeable dessert pot section featuring mousses, trifles and other scoopable sweets, while Sainsbury’s, Asda and Tesco are also adding pint-sized puddings to their shelves.
For me, the appeal is simple: these pots feel like a treat without the commitment of a full-sized dessert. If you’re cooking for one, entertaining or just fancy something sweet after dinner, Bonne Maman’s new flavours look like an easy addition to the fridge.
