Before the Thermomix, it was often not great: always a few lumps, sometimes small pieces of butter remained, and my arm would eventually give out from all the whisking. Now you just put everything in the bowl, give it a quick mix, and voilà – a super smooth batter.

A symbol of funfairs and street vending, waffles could be found for sale in the streets of Paris as early as the 13th century.

Etymologists link this word to the Frankish "wafla". The term "walfre" around 1185 refers to "a type of pastry cooked between two plates divided into cells which imprint a relief design on it".

It's perfect for an afternoon snack, brunch, or even frozen for those mornings when you lack motivation. Add vanilla, cinnamon, or chocolate chips if you want to mix things up. And take your eggs out of the fridge a little while beforehand; the dough will hold its shape much better.

Come on, if you have a waffle maker lying dormant in a cupboard and a Thermomix, turn them both on and get started – you'll see, it will quickly become a habit to make them .

Place 250 grams of flour, 11 grams of baking powder, 2 eggs, a pinch of salt, 70 grams of butter cut into pieces, 360 grams of semi-skimmed milk and 30 grams of caster sugar in the Thermomix. Blend for 20 seconds / speed 9.
