Dill sauce

Classic dill sauce is one of the treasures of Czech cuisine. It is velvety soft and fragrant, traditionally served with boiled meat or hard-boiled eggs. A popular side dish is bread dumplings or boiled potatoes. This dill sauce will appeal to everyone!

Ingredients · Servings 3
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • meat (or bone) broth
  • 200 ml milk
  • 250 ml cooking cream 12%
  • 1 bunch of fresh dill
  • salt
  • vinegar
  • granulated sugar
Method · 50 min
  1. Finely chop the washed dill. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the flour and fry until light brown, stirring constantly.
  2. Pour in cold broth or water, add milk, stir and let cook for about 20 minutes.
  3. Then stir in the cream, dill and season the sauce with salt, sugar and vinegar. Serve with boiled beef or a hard-boiled egg.
  4. Boiled potatoes or bread dumplings are suitable as a side dish.
