Tast a la Rambla kicks off with a tribute to Escribá
Tast a La Rambla celebrates its tenth anniversary by partnering with the Copa América in Barcelona and fusing Barcelona's gastronomy with that of other regions. Furthermore, at the opening event, Albert Adrià presented an award to the Escribà family of Pastelería Escribà, a Rambla icon.
With an opening ceremony presented by actor José Corbacho, the fair kicked off by offering visitors the culinary offerings of 30 restaurants and 6 pastry shops in Barcelona, which will offer tastings (6 euros per tapa) until June 9.
Other territories are also included, represented by various initiatives, such as Saborea Lanzarote, the Center for Art, Culture and Tourism of the Lanzarote Island Council; Andorra – High Mountain Gastronomy; 1,001 Flavors Region of Murcia, and Culinary Roots – Castilla-La Mancha.
Tast a la Rambla not only inaugurated the award with its tribute to the Escribá family for their contribution to Catalan gastronomy, but also showcased its connection with the Barcelona America's Cup, which, from the space Twelve cultures, twelve gastronomy, will bring the gastronomy of the 12 countries participating in the sporting competition to all Barcelonans and visitors.
The fair, which will also feature live music, tastings and educational workshops, began with an event attended by Ivan Pera, Commissioner of the Pact for Ciutat Vella; Jordi Torrades, Director General of Commerce; Ángel Vázquez, Councilor of the Lanzarote Island Council for the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism; Laia Claverol, Manager of the Area of Economy and Economic Promotion of the Barcelona City Council, representing the Barcelona America's Cup initiative; Jordi Parra, General Director of the GSR group and Tast a la Rambla, and Pau Bosch, President of Amics de la Rambla.
The Association of Friends, Neighbors and Merchants of La Rambla and the GSR group are organizing Tast a La Rambla, a gastronomic and civic festival that has the institutional support of the Ciutat Vella District, the Barcelona City Council, Barcelona Tourism with the Barcelona America's Cup and the Generalitat of Catalonia through Prodeca, a public company for the promotion of Catalan agri-food products; as well as the participation of the Consortium of Commerce, Crafts and Fashion (CCAM) of the Department of Business and Labor of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
