French toast sandwiches with marmalade and chocolate
These French toast sandwiches with marmalade and chocolate transform lunch into a truly indulgent dessert. Slices of country bread are first topped with a generous layer of orange marmalade and milk chocolate squares, then dipped in a mixture of eggs, milk, and vanilla before being pan-fried until golden brown.
Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 180 ml (3/4 cup) of milk
- 10 ml (2 tsp) of vanilla extract
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) of butter
- 8 slices of country bread
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) of orange marmalade
- 2 bars of milk chocolate, 100g each, cut into squares
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the milk and vanilla.
- Dip the slices of bread one by one into the egg mixture, letting them soak up the mixture slightly.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Cook one or two slices of bread at a time for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until golden brown. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread half of the bread slices with orange marmalade, then top with pieces of milk chocolate. Cover with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
- Bake the sandwiches in the oven for 5 to 7 minutes, until the chocolate is melted and the bread is piping hot.
