The Chef Behind Father’s Office Opens a ‘Tiny’ Burger Stand at South Coast Plaza

Sang Yoon, the chef behind gastropub Father’s Office and now-closed Helms Bakery, heads to Costa Mesa with his next restaurant, Tiny’s Burger.

Tiny’s menu opens with a hamburger or cheeseburger made with a 4-ounce dry-aged patty and topped with Tiny’s Sauce, a blend of gochujang, ssamjang, ketchup, and mustard. A classic 10-inch Nathan’s hot dog on a potato bun is available, alongside the Tokyo Dog topped with Kewpie mayonnaise, sweet soy, furikake, and bonito flakes. The menu rounds out with a tuna melt, chicken nuggets, a chili dog, grilled cheese, salt-and-vinegar tots, and pineapple Dole whip. An attached konbini offers refrigerated sandos alongside a lineup of snacks, beer, and wine. In contrast to Yoon’s infamous no-ketchup, no-modifications policy at Father’s Office, Tiny’s Burger will have both.

Where to catch World Cup matches in Los Angeles

The World Cup is in full swing, and alongside many sports bars, some Los Angeles restaurants have made plans to host their own watch parties. In the Arts District, Ditroit will show all three Mexico matches, while Lincoln Heights brewery Benny Boy will stream all U.S. and Mexico matches. In Koreatown, Biergarten has scheduled showings for South Korea matches, while Fuegos LA should be your destination whenever Argentina plays.

Lobster BLTs at Luke’s Lobster

BLT season is blessedly upon us, and some Los Angeles restaurants have taken advantage of the early season bounty. Sustainable lobster and seafood chain Luke’s Lobster will debut a stacked BLT lobster roll at its downtown Santa Monica location just in time for summer: The new roll comes with mayo-slathered lobster, tomato, lettuce, and thick-cut bacon on the brand’s buttered brioche rolls; gluten-free rolls are also available. Stop in to get one starting June 17.
