Fans of ice cream and fine jams will be thrilled to know that two stars of the small craft food world are teaming up for one very exciting new ice cream shop Seward Soft Serve.
Beloved Food Truck Returns: in Food Hall Form
The Moral Omnivore, maker of those crave-inducing mushroom fries are making a comeback. The truck’s owners Linneaand Ross Logas and have paired with Megan and Phil Gaffney, the duo behind MidNord Empanadas and Churro’s at Graze Food Hall in the North Loop. The couples all know each other from their early days as food truck operators. Graze has become the next step for a few proven pop-up and food truck successes.
Look for those beet sliders and other fantastic fresh vegetable-staring fare beginning in April.
Northeast’s New Cafe Will Open Any Day Now
Mary Ellen’s Bistro is almost open in the former Maeve’s Cafe location. The owners of Sleepy V’s have taken over the cafe and promise North Dakota-grandma approved fare like knoephla, kuchen, sausages, and sandwich. The cafe opened just a tiny bit for coffee and a couple of bites over the weekend. Keep an eye on 300 13th Avenue Northeast in Minneapolis for more regular hours in the upcoming weeks.
Popular Twin Cities Restaurants Expand Hours to Keep Up with Demand
As the weather warms up, restaurants across the metro are expanding hours in all kinds of exciting ways. On Monday March 2 The Lexington will now be open for power lunching on Grand Avenue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Hyacinth, the gorgeous little Italian restaurant at 790 Grand Avenue in St. Paul is adding Sunday dinner. That means chef/owner Rikki Giambruno’s affordable fine dining is now available seven days a week from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Return of the Doughscuit
Tim Niver, owner of Trattoria Mucci at 901 East Lake Street confirms that the popular Italian restaurant will open for brunch hours in March. That means the return of Mucci chef Chris Uhrich’s much-loved doughscuits (the confection lovechild of a doughnut and a biscuit) will return. Also, there will be reservations available for brunch, so no long lines and waiting.
The doughscuits began as a weekend-only offering at Mucci’s first location in St. Paul’s West 7th neighborhood. That service ended around the opening of the second location. Unfortunately, it looks like they have jumped the river and the St. Paul location will continue to be closed weekend mornings. Edit: Mucci’s Saint Paul does open for lunch Saturday and Sunday. Plus, it will begin taking reservations in March.
