Meltingly tender baked sweet potato: the best recipe
How to choose a sweet potato for baking?
Ingredients · Servings 4 people
- 2 sweet potato units
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 lemon unit
- 1 drizzle of olive oil
- 1 tbsp parsley
- 1 knob of butter
Method · 2 min
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Cut the sweet potatoes in half lengthwise and place them in an ovenproof dish. Squeeze lemon juice over them, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with parsley and salt.
- Bake for about 1 hour – check for doneness with the tip of a knife: they should be soft. During the last two minutes, dot with butter.
Choose firm sweet potatoes, free of blemishes or damaged parts, and preferably of a similar size so they cook evenly. Medium-sized sweet potatoes are particularly well-suited for baking.
How can you tell if a sweet potato is fully cooked in the oven?
To check if it's cooked, insert the tip of a knife into the center of the sweet potato. It should go in easily and the flesh should be very tender. If it remains firm, continue cooking for a few more minutes and check again.
