Nazario Cano flies from Odysseus to his land
Born in Alicante in 1973, Nazario Cano has always been well-connected with accolades: he earned a Michelin star at El Rodat (Jávea) and another a few months after joining the Odiseo leisure group in Murcia, where he also received two Repsol Suns.
"These past four years have been a time of great learning, and I am very grateful to the company for giving me the opportunity to work on such an ambitious and rewarding project. I wish this great family all the best," says Cano.
He's returning to Alicante with four of his closest collaborators from Odiseo, with whom he's worked for many years. They'll be there for the opening of the chef's new restaurant, which he hopes to open for Easter next year. "It's about establishing myself in my hometown, with the Michelin star and always adhering to the guide's guidelines, and then expanding to different locations. Murcia is very likely to be one of the first places we'll look to open," he says.
Their intention is to create their own brand with which to expand with different hospitality models, although without leaving behind a Mediterranean cuisine with the sea as a common thread and without giving up nods to other gastronomy.
Gratitude
For his part, José Antonio Trujillo, director of the Hotels and Restaurants division at Orenes, expressed his deep gratitude for Nazario's dedication and years of professionalism. "We wish him all the best, because in addition to being a great professional, he has left a lasting mark on Odiseo's approach to gastronomy," he affirmed.
Furthermore, Trujillo states that they have been working for some time on evolving the restaurant's menu to a concept where the product takes center stage, and that the company has more than one hundred and twenty chefs to guarantee the gastronomic excellence of the leisure center.
"We will open the search process because we want the best professionals to always work in Orenes, but Odiseo alone has almost thirty chefs to face any challenge," Trujillo said.
