Meatballs in Pita Bread
½ Ramadan flatbread
Ingredients for Meatballs
- 500 gr. ground beef
1 clove of garlic
Salt
2 tablespoons of tomato paste
- ½ cup of water
Salt
strained yogurt
For the pide: Cut the pide into rectangular pieces. Place a deep pan on the stove and add butter, melting it. Place the pide pieces in the melted butter and fry them.
For the vegetables: Place your pan back on the stove and heat it. Add the peppers, which you have pierced with a knife, to the heated pan and cook them. Remove the cooked peppers and add the cherry tomatoes. Once the tomatoes have browned, remove them from the pan as well.
For the meatballs: In a mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped onion, red bell pepper, garlic, ground meat, salt, pepper, cumin, and dried thyme. Shape into thin, elongated forms. Cook all the meatballs in a pan heated over high heat and set aside.
For the sauce: Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the tomato paste and sauté for a few minutes. Then add the water, salt, and pepper, bring to a boil, and set aside.
To assemble: Arrange the pita bread slices at the bottom of the serving plate. Place the meatballs on top of the pita bread. Pour the prepared sauce over the meatballs. Garnish with the cooked tomatoes and peppers. Serve with yogurt on the side of the serving plate.
