The first edition of Alguer Wine Week was a great success

The curtain falls on Alguer Wine Week: the first edition of the event, a symbol of Sardinian winemaking, concluded with great success, leaving an indelible mark on the memory of Alghero and the many visitors who attended.

The region's winemaking heritage was at the center, represented by over 50 wineries and 7 consortia present in a tasting tour that gave enthusiasts the opportunity to discover the island's finest wines, from inland to the coast, learning the producers' stories at the tasting tables. The Alghero DOC Consortium, the Vermentino DOC Consortium, the Cannonau DOC Consortium, the Vermentino di Gallura DOCG Consortium, the Cantine del Coros, the Cantine della Romangia, the Malvasia and Terralba DOC Consortium were just some of the featured wineries, offering the opportunity to discover the best of Sardinian winemaking, from the major appellations to lesser-known producers.

Alguer Wine Week showcased not only great wines but also the stories and traditions that make Sardinia one of the Mediterranean's most precious pearls, both for its scenic beauty and its immense cultural heritage. The costume exhibitions, from those of the Ardia to the traditional costumes of Uri, Bonorva, Ittiri, and Usini in the province of Sassari, generated great enthusiasm. A rich program of performances highlighted the history of traditional Sardinian garments. Great music was also given prominence, with numerous concerts featuring renowned artists from Sardinia and beyond. From the Corale Vivaldi, the Piccola Orchestra Gonzaga, and the Basin Street Trio to jazz with ABNO – the Jazz Orchestra of Sardinia and the Tardo Hammer Trio, as well as numerous DJ sets, ensuring entertainment until late at night.

The success of Alghero Wine Week was further enhanced by the simultaneous presence of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, which made Alghero not only the birthplace of Sardinian wine but also a major showcase for the best of international winemaking. This new edition, dedicated to sparkling wines, confirmed the competition's high level of quality, with a wealth of confirmed wines and many new discoveries that thrilled the 50-member jury, including journalists, buyers, and industry professionals from around the world.

The initiative has helped strengthen Sardinia's identity as the "Island of Wine," a concrete positioning for a region where grape growing and wine culture are historic elements. More and more wineries on the island offer tours and tastings, alongside increasingly high-quality production, ensuring memorable wine experiences.

A winning combination for a one-of-a-kind experience in Sardinian winemaking, made possible thanks to the synergy between the Alghero DOC Consortium, the participating consortia and wineries, with the patronage and funding of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia Department of Tourism, Crafts and Commerce and the contribution of the Northern Sardinia Chamber of Commerce, the Municipality of Alghero, the Alghero Foundation, Salude & Trigu, Laore, Coldiretti, CIA Contadini Italiani, Confagricoltura, AIS Sardegna, Consorzio Riviera del Corallo, CCN Al Centro Storico, Porto Conte Park and Isola Piana Marine Protected Area.
