The key mistake when making fried apricots: it won't make them crispy

Do not wash mushrooms before breading.

Although it seems logical to wash mushrooms under running water before cooking, it's best not to do this with apricots. Mushrooms are porous and absorb water quickly. If you soak or wash them thoroughly before breading, they will contain even more water and consequently moisture, making it harder to achieve a nice, crispy breading.

Therefore, before preparing the apricots, gently clean them with a brush, paper towel, or wipe them with a slightly damp cloth if necessary. Remove any remaining soil and other impurities, and then you can prepare them for breading.

Additives that make it taste even better

Apricots have a very pleasant, delicate mushroom flavor, which can be enhanced with the right additions. In addition to salt, you can use a little garlic powder and thyme when breading. Thyme goes perfectly with mushrooms and complements their flavor nicely without completely covering it.

You can add the minced garlic and thyme to the scrambled eggs, as this will help the mushrooms absorb their flavor more easily. If you have fresh thyme, you can finely chop it and add it to the eggs. Alternatively, you can mix the herbs and spices directly into the breadcrumbs.

You can also add a lot of flavor to the breadcrumbs, such as a little freshly grated Parmesan cheese or chopped fried onions for extra flavor and an interesting texture.

However, don't use all the toppings at once. On the contrary, choose one or two combinations and adapt them to your taste. One time you can prepare apricots with thyme and garlic, and the next time you can try a combination of thyme and fried onions. This way, you can create a slightly different taste from the same basic dish each time.

The correct frying temperature is also important

When preparing wild mushrooms, it's not just about crunchiness, but also about good heat treatment. Apricots need to be properly heat treated before being eaten, so don't fry them at too high a temperature just to get a golden crust as quickly as possible.

Therefore, it is very important that the oil is not too hot. If the temperature is too high, the breading will quickly burn and turn dark brown, while the inside of the mushroom will not be properly cooked. When frying marela, we want to achieve the perfect balance: a golden and crispy fried breading and a soft, properly cooked mushroom.

So the next time you fry marmalades, make sure that the heat or temperature is not set too high. If the panade starts to darken too quickly, reduce the temperature a little. Slower and more even frying will contribute to a much better end result.

Place the fried apricots on a paper towel for a few moments to absorb excess oil, then serve them as soon as possible. Do not stack them on top of each other, as the steam will cause the breading to soften more quickly.

Serve the fried mushrooms while they are still hot, when the breading is at its crispiest. Prepared this way, they are great as a standalone dish, or you can also serve them with a fresh salad or your favorite sauce.
