Rincón asserts that “the pork sector is constantly innovating”

The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food of the Government of Aragon, Javier Rincón, together with the Director General of Quality and Food Safety, Aitziber Lanza, and the mayor of Monzón, Isaac Claver, has closed the day 'Sower of ideas of the pig sector,' in the town of Monzón, where he assured that this sector is "in constant innovation".

In this forum, he highlighted that "Aragon is not only the largest producer of pork in all of Spain, but has also taken advantage of the opportunity to create an agri-food industry around it."

Rincón added that "exports alone totaled more than 2.2 billion euros in 2024" and that the pork market has grown steadily over the last decade.

At the meeting, professionals from the sector shared their ideas in an industry that is constantly innovating, "from animal genetics to food, including animal welfare and waste treatment," the councilor said.

Based on this last idea, Javier Rincón cited as an example "the new biogas industries as a sustainable alternative to decarbonize by utilizing agricultural and livestock waste," adding that it is about innovating so that the industry is sustainable not only environmentally, but also economically and socially.
