Popular Southern Restaurant Yardbird Sets a Date to Open in Dallas [Updated]

Rockwell Group is handling the design of the Dallas location, with down-home details like a wraparound patio with swings, or chicken feet as decor in the upstairs private dining room. The dining room (also know as the “drawing room”) will be light and bright, with an open kitchen and large picture windows.

Fried chicken makes the menu, of course, made with a 27-hour brining process. Other Southern-themed menu highlights include buttermilk biscuits; deviled eggs with dill, chives, and smoked trout roe; fried green tomatoes with pork belly and pimento cheese; and “chicken ‘n’ watermelon ‘n’ waffles” complete with honey hot sauce, bourbon maple syrup, chilled spiced watermelon, and a waffle made with Vermont sharp cheddar cheese.

“I have family in Dallas, so being able to introduce the culture and cuisine Yardbird is known for to this special city is like coming home in a sense,” 50 Eggs Hospitality Group Founder & CEO John Kunkel said in a release. “Combining our chef-driven atmosphere with beautiful interior design by our partners at Rockwell Group, we are elated to deliver a fusion of old and new Southern charm to the community.”
