The Couple Behind West 7th’s Good Neighbor Eatery Are Opening a Cantina in Nearby Food Hall
The owners of Hope Breakfast Bar are expanding into the just-vacated In Bloom space inside Keg & Case on West 7th in St. Paul with a little help from St. Paul’s busiest chef. Elotes will be a cantina and make great use of the restaurant’s 20 foot wood-fired cooking hearth at the center of the space.

Brian and Sarah Ingram will open Eloté in Keg & Case along with culinary director Justin Sutherland.
Elotes will open later this summer with just a few design changes to the In Bloom interior, but the addition of a West 7th-facing patio space.
This is the Ingram’s second big restaurant opening of the year. They are also hard at work at re-opening The Gnome on St. Paul’s Selby Avenue. Just as with that project, Eater’s chef of the year Justin Sutherland will serve as culinary director for both restaurants.
Brian and Sarah Ingram first opened the all-day breakfast restaurant, Hope Breakfast Bar in the fall of last year, with the plan to also put a little hope into the world with some of the restaurant’s profits going to a nonprofit. The humble idea turned out to be exactly what 2020 was going to need. Beginning with the St. Paul teacher’s strike, the restaurant provided free meals to those in need. Then came the pandemic and all that went with it. Since then, the restaurant has been a beacon for feeding those in need, and sharing meals with the community.
Just like Hope and The Gnome, Elotes will contribute 3% of proceeds to their Give Hope nonprofit.
In Bloom first opened two years ago as the fine dining anchor to Keg & Case, a food hall inside the historic Schmidt Brewery’s keg house. That restaurant announced its official closing last week, after shuttering due to the pandemic back in March.
