One-pan Turkey Meatballs with Garlic Bread
Bake for 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and crispy. Serve with a fresh salad or spaghetti.
Ingredients · Servings 3
- 350 g minced turkey meat
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 tbsp tomato puree
- 800 g canned tomatoes, chopped
- 2 tsp sugar
- 150 g mozzarella
- 4 slices of bread
- 25 g cheddar
Method · 1 h 5 min
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground turkey, oregano, and fennel seeds. Season with salt and pepper. Take walnut-sized pieces from the mixture and shape them into balls. TIP: To make the balls easier to work with, it's a good idea to put them in the fridge for a few minutes. They will be firmer and will cook better.
- In a large frying pan, heat half the oil and fry the prepared meatballs until golden brown on all sides. It doesn't matter if they are not fully cooked. Set them aside on a plate.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Add the remaining oil to the pan and add the onion. Sauté, stirring constantly, until softened, about 10-12 minutes.
- Then add the chopped garlic and let it fry for about a minute.
- Then add tomato paste, chopped tomatoes and sugar.
- Simmer the mixture for 10–15 minutes, then season with salt and pepper as needed.
- Return the meatballs to the sauce, add the mozzarella and breadcrumbs, and sprinkle with grated cheddar.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until the surface is golden and crispy. Serve with fresh salad or spaghetti.
