Cacerola de hierro fundido Woll

He tenido varias piezas de la batería de cocina Woll en mi cocina durante muchos años: mis sartenes favoritas y un par de cacerolas de acero inoxidable con un diseño de tapa espectacular.

I've had several Woll cookware pieces in my kitchen for many years: my favorite frying pans and a couple of stainless steel saucepans with a spectacular lid design. I was eager to try Woll's new cast iron casserole dish to see if it's a good option for readers who ask me for a more affordable cocotte-style casserole dish than the well-known Le Creuset. And that's what I've been doing for a few months now, testing it out, because I want to recommend a piece that, while less expensive, meets good standards of quality and usability.

The manufacturer's new Iron series is presented as an extremely robust product, made entirely of cast iron. The exterior has been enameled for added protection and a striking appearance. Mine is cobalt blue, as you can see in the photo.

I really like the material it's made of, and one of the great advantages of cast iron over other materials is its ability to store and retain heat for a long time. This translates into energy savings when cooking, because once it's heated up, you only need to keep the heat medium-low for the food to cook perfectly.

The interior has a ceramic glaze that makes it resistant to marks and scratches, while also protecting the cast iron so you can wash it in the dishwasher. I don't do that with any of my pots or pans: it's no trouble at all to wash these pieces by hand, and I think it increases their lifespan, although I understand that you might prefer to save time and put it in the dishwasher. In this case, you can.

One thing I love about it is the silicone handles. They fit perfectly over the cast iron handles, so you don't need to use gloves to handle the saucepan without burning yourself. They're incredibly convenient and easy to attach and remove.

It is suitable for all types of hobs, including induction hobs, which is what I have, but the best thing is that it can also be used in the oven, thanks to the stainless steel knob on its lid.

The brand explains that the lid features a grid of iron dots in a shape that promotes steam retention. This design encourages the cyclical circulation of steam, keeping it in constant motion, which results in even cooking and enhances flavors and textures.

Mine is 24 cm, which I think is a perfect size for a family of four to six people. There's another model that's 20 cm.
