Ankarsrum mixer, something special
These types of stand mixers are a significant investment, and many of you ask me what makes the Ankarsrum stand mixer so special compared to others in the same price range. Let me tell you everything.
I've owned a KitchenAid mixer for many years and I know it perfectly well. I could never have a negative opinion of it because it's a very good machine, but I will tell you about the differences between this type of mixer, called planetary mixers, which have the motor in the arm and its attachments rotate on the arm like planets—hence the name—and the Ankarsrum mixer, in which the motor is in the base and the stainless steel bowl rotates.
From my point of view, of course.
Before getting into the technical details, let me mention that it comes with a 7-year warranty, which I think is very important to know. Also, when it comes to payment options, it's worth considering the available financing. And one last, very striking point, though it might seem minor: the wide variety of colors available.
You'll be able to make up to 5 kilos of dough (4 kilos for bread dough). Having the motor in the base allows the manufacturer to fit a more powerful one: 1500 W compared to the 325 W of the KitchenAid Artisan.
I've found that it kneads both small and large amounts of dough well, in case you want to make bread on the weekend, bake it and freeze it, to take out during the week.
Just as you read. Its wide, uncluttered opening makes adding ingredients a breeze. And because of this, you can see the dough forming beautifully.
This has me amazed; the Ankarsrum mixer's spatula is a fantastic invention: it cleans the sides of the bowl as it rotates. You can see it in action in this video:
Tired of your mixer wobbling around? The Ankarsrum mixer stays perfectly still even when kneading large quantities, even with low-hydration doughs. Absolutely fantastic!
I love the design of its scraper. Not only does it do what any scraper does when handling dough, but thanks to its rounded shape, it also removes all the excess dough from the rolling pin.
I've used many machines that whip cream well, but I don't think any compare to this one. In about 30 or 35 seconds, I have 500g of whipped cream ready, and at the perfect consistency I like. The design of the beaters, their placement, and the amount of air incorporated make for a winning combination for whipping cream and meringues.
Precisely for this reason, in addition to the system for kneading leavened doughs, the Ankarsrum is fabulous for whipped doughs.
As simple as what you see in this other video:
The stainless steel bowl, the plastic bowl, and all accessories are dishwasher safe. To clean the machine, simply use a damp cloth and then dry it.
The Ankarsrum mixer includes a generous number of accessories:
