Terrassa will search for the best pizza in Vallès at a four-day festival
Terrassa will transform Parc de Vallparadís into a giant open-air pizzeria during the October bank holiday weekend.
The event combines gastronomy and leisure in a format designed for spending several hours at the venue. Each participating restaurant will present two recipes: a classic pizza, representative of its cuisine, and a gourmet pizza, with more creative preparations. Confirmed names include Ofame, Porzioni di Roma, Mezzanotte, and Pizza Social Club, and other establishments from the area will also be participating.
The public will also have the final say
The competition will award two different prizes. One will be decided by a vote of the attendees, while the second will be chosen by a jury made up of professionals from the food industry and Edu González, content creator, owner of Bravas Barcelona, and co-organizer of the festival.
This dual system allows for two quite different ways of evaluating a pizza. On the one hand, there's the public's opinion, much more closely tied to personal taste and the experience of the moment; on the other, a professional evaluation that takes the product into account from a more gastronomic perspective.
Over the four days, attendees will be able to sample the different offerings and pair them with various Mahou beers. The idea is for the festival to function more as a tasting tour than a quick visit, taking advantage of the Vallparadís setting and the parallel program of events.
Music, cooking demonstrations, and something sweet to finish
Mahou Pizzas Fest won't be limited to the competition. The program will include live music, workshops, and cooking demonstrations, as well as a dedicated area for sweet treats for those who want to end the day without another slice of pizza.
Among the latter will be croissants from El Secret de Ciscu and Rosita ice creams, expanding an offering that seeks to make the festival a complete plan for families and groups of friends during the holidays.
The location also works in favor of the format. Vallparadís Park allows for a large part of the experience to take place outdoors in one of Terrassa's most recognizable green spaces, moving away from the concept of a closed food fair and closer to a large weekend gathering.
Free entry, although with limited capacity
Entry will be free for residents of Catalonia, although downloading a ticket does not automatically guarantee entry. The venue will have limited capacity, and access will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability.
There will also be a Menu Entry option, which guarantees entry and includes a pizza (either a whole pizza or a slice), a reusable cup, and a drink. Those who choose this option will also have priority access to both the festival and the restaurant queues.
The event will have different time slots to spread out attendance and reduce waiting times, something especially important considering the good figures of the last editions of Pizzas Fest, which together exceeded 90,000 attendees.
Four days to find Terrassa's favorite
The festival will open on Friday, October 9, from 6:00 PM to midnight, while on Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th it will run from noon to midnight. The program will close on Monday the 12th with hours from noon to 10:00 PM.
During those four days, Terrassa will have the opportunity to decide which pizza wins the public's favor and which one most impresses the jury. Between classic recipes, gourmet versions, music, and activities, Mahou Pizzas Fest offers one of the most straightforward gastronomic plans of the long weekend: arrive hungry and leave with a favorite.
