Small joys are the recipe for a happier life. Do them every day
All it takes is a quiet morning coffee, a short walk or a sit-down with a friend, and suddenly your mood is somewhere completely different.
Morning coffee
Making coffee and drinking it in five minutes at the computer also counts as coffee, of course, but you will have a completely different feeling from it when you drink it calmly, without a phone in your hand and without having to deal with ten other things at the same time. Just you, the coffee and your thoughts. And that is literally a different coffee. You can also experience your favorite breakfast, a few minutes on the balcony or a song that you play on the way to work. And you don't need any wellness before seven in the morning.
Walk
You don't have to walk ten kilometers or measure your pace on a watch. Instead of counting steps, take a short walk after work, maybe just around the house or go to the store to get something for dinner. This can be a nice break between your duties and free time. Plus, when you walk, you change your environment for a moment and stop sitting in the same place you've spent the whole day. Just give yourself a moment to rest.
Sauna or hot tub
Some people relax in the sauna, others take a bath in the evening or watch their favorite TV series, but the principle is basically the same. You do something that brings you a pleasant feeling, but it may not have any other benefit. And these are the moments that are easily pushed aside during the day, saying that there is no time for them. But if you keep putting them off, the whole week will very easily become just waiting for the weekend.
Micro-joy doesn't even have to be a solo activity. Grab a coffee with a friend, and if that's not possible, ring her on the way home. Just a little chat after work will make your mindless evening of scrolling go away, and even a midlife crisis won't get you down.
These mini moments don't have to be several a day, feel free to start with just one. A happier day isn't a perfect one, but one in which there is something you really look forward to.
