Swinging at Jazz by the Sea Domburg begins: 'The same recipe, occasionally different ingredients'

Festival organizer and presenter Stijn van Kervinck is really looking forward to this weekend after a year of preparations. "We are completely ready." The board meets every month, and during the upcoming days themselves, everyone will be busy until the late hours. "We are on call non-stop and sometimes continue through the night, for example by moving traffic signs," says Van Kervinck.

So, quite a job. But it is not all for nothing. "We are using the same recipe as in previous years, but occasionally with different ingredients," says Van Kervinck. For instance, the organization wants to reach an even younger audience. That is why there is a stage specifically for young talent on the corner near Tramzicht. "We are trying out new styles more and more often."

However, not all old souls need mourn: on the main stage at the Badhotel, you can enjoy classic jazz all weekend. Boris van der Lek will be performing there during the opening. A saxophonist who played with Herman Brood and the Golden Earrings. "I am really looking forward to that performance," says an enthusiastic Van Kervinck.

Weather

The only thing the organizer has no control over is the weather this coming weekend. "We check the weather forecast several times a day," Van Kervinck adds. But even he knows that ultimately nothing can be changed. Above all, he hopes that the little clouds will hold back their tears during the street parade. "That would be very nice."
