On Sunday, October 18th, a walk in Bagnaria among apples, nature, and the landscapes of the Staffora Valley
BAGNARIA – On Sunday, October 18, Bagnaria will host a historical-naturalistic walk organized by Calyx Associazione di Promozione Sociale on the occasion of the 43rd Apple Fair, a traditional event dedicated to one of the products that most characterizes the agricultural history of the Staffora Valley.
The meeting point is set for 10:00 a.m. in the Piazza IV Novembre parking lot, where a trail will begin, designed to guide participants through the discovery of the area and its ancient fruit-growing tradition. A simple excursion, it combines natural beauty with the history and agricultural traditions of Bagnaria.
The route will begin in the old town, originally a fortified military outpost guarding the ford of the Staffora River. From here, the group will ascend through fields and small woods until reaching the ravine formations that dominate the town. Along the way, there will be panoramic views of the surrounding hills, particularly evocative with their autumnal colors.
After reaching the highest point of the trail, the walk will continue downhill toward the valley. The return journey will take place along a picturesque path on the left bank of the Staffora stream, nestled among apple orchards. It is here that participants will be able to learn more about the local fruit-growing tradition and some of the late-ripening apple varieties, a symbolic autumn product and an important agricultural resource for the area.
The excursion will end directly at the Apple Fair, where you can continue your day exploring stalls, local products, and culinary specialties. Participants can stop for lunch, which is optional and not included in the excursion price, and purchase apples and other seasonal, locally sourced produce.
The route will be approximately 6 kilometers long, with a total elevation gain of 250 meters. The difficulty level is classified as T, meaning touristic: no particular technical difficulties are expected, although the organizers emphasize the need for good health and reasonable walking ability, especially on the uphill sections. The estimated duration is approximately three and a half hours, including stops for explanations, but lunch is not included.
Participation costs €15 for adults, and is free for children up to 8 years old. The activity is reserved for association members: those who are not yet members can obtain a membership card directly at the meeting, at no additional cost, by completing the registration form, which includes a waiver of liability for the association's governing bodies.
Reservations are required, preferably via WhatsApp, by the time all available places are filled and in any case by 8 pm on Saturday 17 October 2026. For information and updates on the association's activities and initiatives, please visit the Calyx Turismo website and its Facebook and Instagram channels.
A day designed to discover Bagnaria through its landscape, its history, and one of the crops that have shaped its identity: the apple. A chance to walk among hills, ravines, and apple orchards, concluding the experience in the heart of the traditional Apple Fair.
