With traditional costumes and Oktoberfest cake: Oktoberfest on “The Great Bake Off”

Three more rounds are scheduled in the current season of the Sat.1 show "Das große Backen" (The Great Bake Off). The field of amateur bakers competing for the "Golden Cupcake" has now been reduced to five. Last week, the competition, hosted by Enie van de Meiklokjes, ended prematurely for contestant Anna. The 24-year-old from Worms received the fewest points.

Oxana, 48, from Gummersbach, will don the red apron for the second time this season this Wednesday, September 16, starting at 8:15 p.m. Her creations earned her 47 points, securing her the title of "Baker of the Week." Bianca, 32, from Augsburg, who has already achieved this feat four times, is also still in contention on "The Great Bake Off." Last Wednesday, she came in second place, just one point behind Oxana.

Now the two must once again compete against Andre (43) from Freudenburg, Elli (51) from Tettnang, and Michael (41) from Menden, who also qualified for today's round. This time, a festive Oktoberfest atmosphere prevails in the Sat.1 beer tent. Host van de Meiklokjes and the judging duo Christian Hümbs and Bettina Schliephake-Burchardt have dressed up in appropriate Oktoberfest attire.

Fittingly, the challenge is to translate the theme of "Oktoberfest" into spectacular themed and 3D cakes. Furthermore, the contestants must design individual chocolate bars and, last but not least, present a classic bee sting cake to the tasting plates. Throughout the evening, a variety of stories unfold. While Andre surprises everyone with a supposed secret ingredient, judge Christian Hümbs dedicates considerable time to a crucial topic: the proper tempering of chocolate couverture.
