What to make for breakfast this week? Recipes that will make you want to get out of bed

In September, breakfast becomes the first thing you need to plan well for the rest of the week.

Porridge

Porridge is a typical English breakfast made with rolled oats cooked with water, milk, and honey until they reach a soft and creamy consistency. You can garnish it with yogurt, strawberries, maple syrup, and dark chocolate shavings to add different flavors and textures to the porridge.

Smart tip: If you want a creamier porridge, choose extra-fine rolled oats; whole oats, on the other hand, provide a more rustic texture, but it's best to soak them before cooking.

Chia pudding

Chia pudding is a pudding made with chia seeds, almond milk, cocoa, and honey, which should be refrigerated overnight. When ready to serve, you can alternate layers of Greek yogurt and canned cherries, and top with a few mint leaves.

Smart tip: you can replace the almond milk with rice milk.

French toast

French toast is an American breakfast made with slices of brioche bread dipped in a mixture of eggs, milk, and cinnamon, then browned in butter. You can serve it with blueberry jam, a cube of butter, and a pinch of cinnamon.

Smart tip: if you don't have brioche bread, you can use slices of sandwich bread or stale bread.

Porridge overnight

Overnight porridge is a no-cook variation on classic porridge, made with oat bran, rice milk, and blueberries and left to rest in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning, you can garnish it with Greek yogurt, blueberries, flaked almonds, and a few mint leaves.

Smart tip: If you want to sweeten it, you can add white or brown sugar, stevia, honey, or maple or agave syrup.
