When vegetarian food is mentioned, the response is often less than enthusiastic. But that’s not the case when it comes to The Crowded Bowl, a cult-favourite salad stop you can find at Biopolis in Buona Vista, and across many tertiary institutions in Singapore, including NTU.

Think of it as hawker-style cai fan, but with a healthy twist—here you get a range of fresh veggies and plant-based toppings. Popular choices include olive rice, pasta, potato salad, protein balls, and seaweed tofu.

At The Crowded Bowl, you can choose between two bowl sizes: Regular or Large. The former, perfect for one person, includes a green, a main, and two sides, while the Large bowl, ideal for sharing between two to three people, comes with a green, three mains, and five sides.

Pricing varies by outlet— for example, at the Biopolis location, a Regular bowl costs $5.50 and a Large bowl is $15, while at the NTU outlet, the Regular is $4.90 and the Large is $11. If you’re feeling peckish, you can add an extra main for just $1.20 per portion at the NTU outlet.

If you’re a fan of eggs like I am, you won’t want to miss adding their incredibly popular scrambled eggs to your bowl. For just an extra $1.30 at the NTU outlet, you can enjoy smooth, silky scrambled eggs that slide down effortlessly—perfectly indulgent and truly the ideal breakfast option.

But be quick, as these scrambled eggs are made in limited quantities and are available only while stocks last. Consider yourself lucky if you’re able to snag some! The Crowded Bowl has multiple outlets around Singapore, including Biopolis in Buona Vista, Changi General Hospital, Republic Polytechnic, and Singapore Polytechnic.
