Quick homemade puff pastry

I absolutely love the taste of homemade puff pastry made with butter. Its pleasant saltiness pairs beautifully with sweet cream or plain chocolate. It pairs perfectly with a cup of aromatic coffee.

Making quick puff pastry at home is not at all difficult if you follow the tips below. There's no need to roll it out repeatedly or refrigerate it. I'm providing a simplified recipe for half the dough. I was able to make cookies, rolls, and a small five-layer cake with it. For a full-fledged, festive Napoleon, double the recipe.

To make quick homemade puff pastry, take the following ingredients.

In a suitable bowl, combine the flour and salt. You can add a little sugar. Grate the very cold butter into it, sprinkling it with flour. I used a knife to cut the butter, but it's not convenient.

You should get crumbs like this.

Meanwhile, combine ice water, vinegar, and half an egg. The total amount of liquid should not exceed 125 grams.

Pour cold water into the butter crumbs and quickly gather the dough into a ball.

There's no need to knead the dough; you can lightly dust it with flour, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate it overnight. To speed up the process, just chill the dough in the freezer for half an hour.

Quick homemade puff pastry is quite soft and flakes when pressed.

This dough can be used to make cookies, cake layers, and any baked goods that require thin dough.

The cakes turn out very fragile and tender.

Just grease them with cream and the cake is ready.

Enjoy your tea!
