Snails with ham and cheese
Puff pastry, ham and cheese snails are familiar to anyone who has ever prepared a treat. They are a popular snack across all generations, and it's no wonder. As quickly as you prepare them, they disappear from the table just as quickly.
Ingredients · Servings 23 pieces
- 1 chilled puff pastry
- ketchup
- 150 g ham
- 150 g sliced cheese
- oregano
- 1 egg for brushing
- plain flour for sprinkling the dough
- sesame seeds for sprinkling (or sunflower seeds)
Method · 40 min
- Line a baking sheet with baking paper. Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
- Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle, spread with ketchup, sprinkle with oregano and evenly cover with ham and cheese.
- Carefully roll the filled sheet of dough into a tight roll. Using a sharp knife, cut it into individual circles - snails, approximately 1.5 cm thick.
- Place the snails on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and brush the surface with beaten egg. You can also sprinkle them with sunflower and sesame seeds, if desired.
- Bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes.
