Snails with ham and cheese

Puff pastry, ham and cheese snails are familiar to anyone who has ever prepared a treat. They are a popular snack across all generations, and it's no wonder. As quickly as you prepare them, they disappear from the table just as quickly.

Ingredients · Servings 23 pieces
  • 1 chilled puff pastry
  • ketchup
  • 150 g ham
  • 150 g sliced cheese
  • oregano
  • 1 egg for brushing
  • plain flour for sprinkling the dough
  • sesame seeds for sprinkling (or sunflower seeds)
Method · 40 min
  1. Line a baking sheet with baking paper. Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle, spread with ketchup, sprinkle with oregano and evenly cover with ham and cheese.
  3. Carefully roll the filled sheet of dough into a tight roll. Using a sharp knife, cut it into individual circles - snails, approximately 1.5 cm thick.
  4. Place the snails on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and brush the surface with beaten egg. You can also sprinkle them with sunflower and sesame seeds, if desired.
  5. Bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes.
