Windradel

The recipe for a pinwheel is simple to prepare and makes a visually stunning dessert. Not only children will love it.

Ingredients · Servings 20
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 250 g Butter (cold)
  • 1 Piece No
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2. The Sauerrah
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 250 g wheat flour (type 480)
  • 1 jar of jam (any kind)
  • 1 tbsp icing sugar (for sprinkling)
Method · 1 h 10 min
  1. Sift the flour with baking powder and salt onto a work surface, add the butter in small pieces and crumble it in.
  2. Now make a well in the mixture and add the egg, sour cream, and vanilla sugar. Knead the mixture into a smooth dough.
  3. Then wrap in cling film and let rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Line a baking tray with baking paper and preheat the oven to approximately 160-180 °C (top/bottom heat).
  5. Flour a work surface, roll out the dough thinly and cut out squares measuring 5x5 cm.
  6. Starting at the corners, cut halfway through the squares. Place a teaspoon of jam in the center.
  7. Now lift the dough at the cut edges and bend it towards the center to create the shape of a windmill.
  8. Press the dough tips together slightly in the middle so that they don't open up during baking.
  9. Place the pinwheels on the baking sheet and bake for about 8 to 10 minutes until light golden, then sprinkle with powdered sugar while still hot.
