Easy to bake: Brown bananas are perfect for this recipe. Just add a few ingredients and turn on the blender
Bananas have softened, the skin has darkened and they no longer appeal to anyone as a snack? At this stage, you can turn them into simple banana bread. You don't have to sift the flour and prepare a complicated dough. The recipe is based on five common ingredients and the blender does most of the work for you.
Five ingredients and that's it.
Add all ingredients to a blender, one at a time. Start with the bananas and eggs, blend, then add the rest of the ingredients. Don't blend until completely smooth, though. Just until the ingredients are combined and the flakes are partially crushed. Blending for too long can make the bread unpleasantly rubbery.
Preheat the oven to 175°C. Grease a 23x13cm springform pan and line the bottom and sides with baking paper. Pour the prepared banana mixture into the pan and place in the preheated oven. Baking will take approximately 40 to 45 minutes. If using a smaller pan, the bread may need a little more time. You can test whether the cake is baked inside by inserting a wooden skewer, which should come out dry. You can also tell when the loaf is done by the deep golden brown surface that will be firm to the touch. Let the banana bread cool completely before slicing.
You can change the base a little each time
Chocolate chips will make a sweeter version. The original recipe calls for about half a cup. The finished bread can be stored at room temperature for up to four days, if carefully wrapped.
This simple recipe offers a practical way to use up bananas that you might not otherwise eat. Plus, you don't need regular flour and the dough preparation itself only takes a few minutes.
