Reset your body
First of all, we want to thank Lic. Nathaly Marcus, Functional Nutritionist and Founder of Bienesta @NathalyMarcus, for her collaboration.
Today, the "fast, easy, and effortless" philosophy is spreading like wildfire to all aspects of life. In an era where eating light, fresh, and natural foods seems to be the foundation for a healthy life—both body and mind—we are increasingly consuming pre-cooked and processed foods, along with large quantities of fats and sugars. Whether due to lack of time, work schedules, or simply a reluctance to cook, the fact is that healthy homemade meals are becoming less and less common.
We are currently exposed to more toxins in our air, water, and food. Secondly, it has been shown that the ability to detoxify (excrete toxic substances from the body) is crucial for good health, preventing fatigue, hormonal imbalances, and diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
Furthermore, thanks to our current routines and lifestyles, we live under stress. This causes our bodies to enter an escape mode, meaning they feel the need to store everything because they perceive an emergency situation, and this can eventually lead to illness or health problems.
How do you know if you need to detox your body? If you suffer from stress, have poor eating habits, a sedentary lifestyle, take a lot of medication, have bad breath, a white-coated tongue, inflammation, gas, heartburn, indigestion, constipation or diarrhea; allergies, sinusitis, headaches, fatigue, joint pain, depression, apathy, are easily distracted, or have poor memory; and if you add to that exposure to toxins and radiation, you probably need to detox your body. Remember that if there is pain, redness, and swelling in the body, we are inflamed, and this damages the immune system, leading to illness.
Doing a detox isn't just about eliminating foods that cause inflammation; it's also about getting rid of all the negative thoughts, laziness, stress, and all the obstacles that keep you from wanting to go to the gym every day. There's a very important connection between body, soul, and mind; if one of these isn't in sync, the goal of losing fat and building muscle will become increasingly distant. Meditation and relaxation exercises like yoga can also help you balance each of the areas necessary for being at peace with yourself, making it much easier to start the new year with new habits.
