The easiest apple pie according to Monika Absolonová

According to Monika Absolonová, even complete beginners can make the simplest apple pie. The most time-consuming part is peeling and grating the apples. Then you just layer the apples and the loose mixture alternately, spread with butter, and bake. You'll be baking this pie all winter long.

Ingredients · Servings 1 where
  • 2.5 kg of apples
  • 230 g wholemeal flour
  • 150 g cane sugar (or less to taste)
  • 1 baking powder
  • 1 vanilla sugar
  • 1 cinnamon sugar
  • 150 g butter
  • almond flakes for decoration
Method · 1 h 15 min
  1. Wash, peel and coarsely grate the apples.
  2. Line the cake tin with baking paper. Cover the outside of the tin with a sheet of baking paper, in case the apples release more juice during baking. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  3. In a bowl, mix the flour, cane sugar, vanilla sugar, cinnamon sugar and baking powder. Cut the butter into slices.
  4. Spread half of the lightly squeezed prepared apples on the bottom of the prepared pan and sprinkle them evenly with half of the loose mixture. Spread the rest of the apples on top and sprinkle again with the flour mixture and almond slices. Finish everything with butter. Simply spread the slices on top of the cake.
  5. Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake until golden brown, about 40–45 minutes.
  6. After baking, let the cake cool completely, cut it into slices and serve. You can sprinkle with sugar before serving.
