Caramel slices with apple jam

Kola snitch cookies are a real favorite, fill them with homemade apple jam and they will become even more popular. It will be hard to have just one!

Ingredients · Servings 40 pieces
  • Apple jam
  • 3 apples
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice
  • 0.5 lemon, peel (preferably unpeeled)
  • 1 dl Dansukker Jam Sugar
  • Caramel slices
  • 200 g butter, room temperature
  • 2 dl Dansukker Organic Cane Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Dansukker ECO Light Syrup
  • 4 dl wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Garnering
  • sweet almonds, chopped
  • 2 tsp ground cardamom
Method · 1 h
  1. Apple jam
  2. Cook the jam a few hours or a day in advance. Peel and core the apples. Cut into smaller pieces and place in a saucepan with lemon juice, lemon zest and jam sugar. Cook the jam for 10 minutes. Pour the jam into a warm, well-cleaned glass jar and store in the cold.
  3. Caramel slices
  4. Set the oven to 175 degrees, hot air.
  5. Beat together butter, cane sugar and syrup. Mix flour and baking powder in another bowl and add to the batter. Work the batter into a dough.
  6. Roll the dough into 4 lengths, divide the lengths between two baking sheets lined with baking paper. Flatten the lengths a little and make a well in the middle. Fill the well with apple jam.
  7. Pinch the lengths together so that the jam is baked into the dough and then flatten the lengths a little and finally flatten with a fork.
  8. Garnering
  9. Sprinkle with chopped almonds and cardamom.
  10. Bake in the lower part of the oven for 10–11 minutes. Let the lengths cool a little before cutting them into slices. The cookies are best the same day or a day after. The jam makes them very tasty but quickly soft.
  • 3 apples [about 300 g]
