Chili con carne in the Cookeo, spicy and quick to prepare

4 pers.

Ingredients · Servings 4
  • 800g Minced Beef
  • 400g Red Beans
  • 2 Onions
  • 350 ml Tomato Juice
  • 50g Canned Corn
  • 2 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
Method · 11 min
  1. Peel the two onions and slice them thinly so they soften during cooking and flavor the entire dish. Take the time to slice them into even strips to ensure consistent cooking in the Cookeo pot. Then, have all the other ingredients ready to use for easier cooking and to move from one step to the next without delay.
  2. Pour the sunflower oil into the Cookeo pot, add the sliced onions, and then select the browning function. Let them cook for about 2 minutes, stirring regularly with a spatula to prevent them from sticking to the bottom. The onions should begin to become translucent and slightly softened, which will give a fragrant and flavorful base to your chili.
  3. Add the ground beef to the pot with the onions, then stir in the kidney beans, tomato juice, and canned corn. Season with ground cumin and chili powder, then add salt and pepper to taste. Mix everything thoroughly to evenly distribute the spices, coating the meat and vegetables with flavor right from the start.
  4. Close the Cookeo and then start pressure cooking for 7 minutes. During this step, the meat will cook quickly while absorbing the tomato juice, spices, and onion aromas. The red beans will also warm through and blend into the sauce, which will become more homogeneous, flavorful, and particularly delicious.
  5. Once cooking is complete, carefully open the Cookeo and stir the chili to check its consistency. Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning if necessary with a little salt, pepper, or an extra touch of chili for a spicier version. If you wish, you can let it rest for 1 to 2 minutes to allow the flavors to develop further.
  6. Serve the chili con carne piping hot in deep plates or bowls to showcase its rich sauce. For a complete and convivial meal, you can accompany it with white rice, as suggested in the recipe. This simple presentation allows you to fully enjoy this family-friendly dish, which is quick to prepare and bursting with flavor.
