Protein-packed chocolate banana bread: easy recipe
This protein-packed banana bread with chocolate chips is a delicious, protein-rich version of the classic banana bread. It's made with ripe bananas, almond flour, and protein powder, while still maintaining a wonderfully moist texture.
Ingredients · Servings 8
- 2 medium-sized, very ripe bananas, or about 220g of flesh
- 240 ml of unsweetened almond milk or other milk
- 250 g of flour
- 1 sachet of baking powder
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 50g of almond flour
- 30g of protein powder (casein or pea or rice protein) - not mandatory
- 90 g of blond sugar whole egg
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 50g of walnuts
- 70g of dark chocolate chips
Method · 1 h
- Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a cake tin with baking paper.
- Mash or blend the bananas in a large bowl or blender. Add the milk and vanilla extract, then mix.
- Add the flour, baking powder, almond flour, protein powder, sugar, and cinnamon. Mix just enough to form a smooth batter.
- Stir in the roughly chopped walnuts and dark chocolate chips. You can reserve some for decorating the top.
- Pour the mixture into the mold and bake for 45 to 55 minutes.
- Check if it's cooked with the tip of a knife or a toothpick: it should come out almost dry, with possibly a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool before unmolding and cutting.
Bananas naturally add sweetness and a moist texture, while cinnamon, walnuts, and dark chocolate chips make this banana bread especially indulgent. Easy to prepare, it's perfect for breakfast, an afternoon snack, or after a workout.
To get a protein-rich banana bread that isn't dry, choose very ripe bananas and above all, don't overwork the dough after adding the flour and protein.
