Festive strawberry wreath

This festive strawberry wreath is a spectacular dessert that requires minimal preparation. Plain or vanilla doughnuts are arranged in a circle to form a delicious base, then topped with SAVOURA strawberries (available year-round thanks to greenhouse cultivation), small crisp meringues, white chocolate shavings, and mint leaves. A homemade strawberry coulis, made with local fruit, is drizzled over

Ingredients

  • 16 holes for plain or vanilla donuts
  • 500 ml (2 cups) of SAVOURA strawberries, halved
  • 16 small meringues
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) white chocolate chips
  • A few fresh mint leaves

For the strawberry coulis:

  • 500 ml (2 cups) of chopped SAVOURA strawberries
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) of sugar
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) of lemon juice
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) of vanilla extract

Steps

  • For the strawberry coulis: In a small saucepan, combine the strawberries with the sugar and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 5 to 6 minutes over low heat. Stir in the vanilla.
  • Transfer the mixture to the electric blender. Blend until smooth.
  • Pour the coulis into a small serving bowl. Let it cool completely in the refrigerator.
  • To assemble: Place the bowl containing the coulis in the center of a large, round serving platter. Arrange the doughnut holes in a ring around the bowl. Decorate the platter with the strawberries, meringues, white chocolate shavings, and mint leaves.
