Carbonara candle, for a scent of bacon, eggs, pepper and pecorino cheese
Carbonara candle. When talking about carbonara in Rome, you have to be careful what you say, lest someone take real offense, as if there were a personal grievance involved.
The fragrance
This idea is part of the "Domenica italiana" project, a brand launched by Italian Says, which aims to showcase Italianness through objects that evoke Italian culture without caricaturing it. As stated on the website, the scent promises 48 to 52 hours of diffusion, "a scent inspired by al dente spaghetti, crispy Amatriciana bacon, black pepper, eggs, and pecorino romano," according to the description. In reality, it's a natural, vegetable wax candle with a cotton wick, while the glass is handmade from brush-painted ceramic.
The fragrances are designed in collaboration with an olfactory laboratory to create the perfect scent inspired by the dishes. Not just carbonara, in fact. Candles scented with Margherita pizza, saffron risotto, trofie with pesto, tiramisu, and cappuccino are also available.
