Hippo Grill Debuts Korean Barbecue Options in a To-Go Box

Korean barbecue restaurants remain a very popular dining option across the valley and in the southwest, newcomer Hippo Grill Korean BBQ takes the cook-to-order premise and gives it a takeout twist.

Replacing a 1,234-square-foot Subway outpost at the Concorde Plaza, the Hippo Grill joins Sojo Ramen and Scoop at the intersection of Jones Boulevard and Warm Springs Road, keeping its predecessor’s layout to serve its self-described Korean spin on a bento box.

With no current space to dine in, menu choices on the compact menu include barbecue marinated chicken thighs, pork shoulder butt, spicy pork belly, thinly sliced wagyu beef, and galbi short ribs.

Platters served in a to-go box are upgraded with choices of side dishes, featuring kimchi, fish cakes, japchae, Korean rolled omelets, and seaweed salad, plus fried squid, bulgogi fries, and fried mandoo, a Korean dumpling, among the appetizers.

Hippo Grill Korean BBQ, 7377 S. Jones Boulevard, #104, 702-202-1223. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
