This Filipino Cafe Should Be Your Pre-Flight Brunch Spot
People argue about whether to show up at the airport early and have time to kill or show up right on time, but when it comes to flights out of Sea-Tac Airport, there’s a secret third thing: Drive down to Neighborhood Cafe in Tukwila and have a hearty Filipino brunch, then drive 10 minutes to the airport full and caffeinated.
What to order
- If you favor savory brunch food, try the hash, which is crispy lechon and even crispier potatoes. Use it as a vehicle for the sweet, umami soy sauce-based version of sawsawan that it comes with.
- Check out the banana bread French toast. You get the gooeyness of banana bread with the sweet, fried outer crust of French toast — it’s more nutty than eggy, and comes with lightly caramelized bananas on top.
- The drink menu here is LARGE. You’ve got European-style espresso drinks, milk tea with or without boba, matcha, and coffee drinks with various Asian flavors like pandan, ube, or black sesame. Even if you don’t want a sit-down meal, Neighborhood is a please-everyone coffee pit stop on the way to Sea-Tac.
Take note
This is very specifically a brunch spot that opens at 7 a.m. but closes at 3 p.m. (slightly later on the weekends). The “go-to Neighborhood Cafe before the airport” move doesn’t work for evening flights.
Insider tip
Neighborhood also has two locations at Sea-Tac Airport, one in the pre-ticketing area and one at the D Gates, which are the only places in the airport to get boba. The food menu at these counters, however, is much smaller.
