Spain's new best burger is the 'EM2'
The 5th edition of the Spanish Burger Championship, held at the Estrella Galicia MEGA Museum in A Coruña, crowned the EM2 version of The Carnivan Superbar as the 'Best Burger in Spain'.
During the competition, the 15 finalists vied for the grand prize after being selected from over 450 establishments across the country. The jury was comprised of renowned figures in the culinary world, such as the president of Madrid Fusión, Jose Carlos Capel, the food writer Alejandra Ansón, and the chef Fernando Agrasar.
After finishing second in the 2024 edition, the creators of the 'EMMY,' as they dubbed it last year, decided to work hard to improve the burger and turn it into its ultimate expression: the 'EM2.' This succulent creation combines 50% aged ribeye beef (90 days) with oxtail. It's served with cured bacon, caramelized onions with Modena balsamic vinegar, sweet and sour gherkins, and a Parmesan cheese crisp, all inside a potato starch and butter bun. The burger's magic is completed with a secret, slightly spicy sauce made with a recipe they've chosen not to reveal.
Beyond the winning burger, the second position this year is occupied by the 'Las Vegas' burger from Temple Smash Burger (Castellón), while the third best burger in Spain, and the Best in Madrid, is the 'Briochef origins' from BRIOCHEF BURGERS (Aravaca).
