Cadiz - Copa Jerez will once again bring together the world's gastronomy in June around the wines of Jerez

The 11th edition of Copa Jerez Forum & Competition, one of the biggest events on the international gastronomic scene surrounding the wines of the Jerez region, will be held again on June 2nd and 3rd in this municipality of Cadiz, the organization has announced in a statement.

Presentations, tastings, winery visits, and an exciting live cooking demonstration make up the agenda of a congress that will bring together leading figures in the gastronomic vanguard and Jerez wines at the Villamarta Theatre over two days.

The program of activities will be developed around three pillars: the Forum, the International Final of the XI Jerez Cup and Jerez Cup Off experiences.

Copa Jerez is an opportunity for sommeliers, restaurateurs, chefs, and wine lovers to travel to the Jerez region, expand their knowledge with renowned professionals, and discover, alongside leading local experts, the latest trends in Jerez winemaking. A truly unique event where every learning experience engages all five senses.

Leading figures in the world of gastronomy and wine gather every two years at the Copa Jerez Forum & Competition. This year, major national and international culinary stars have already confirmed their participation in this edition, a day dedicated to analysis and experience that places wine at the heart of the discussion.

Xanty Elías, founding chef of the restaurants Acánthum and Finca Alfoliz, Isabelle Brunet, Juanlu Fernández, chef and owner of LÚ Cocina y Alma or David Villalón of Angelita will be some of the speakers who will share their knowledge during the sessions.

They will be joined as judges of the international competition by gastronomic references such as Josep Roca, sommelier and co-owner of the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca; June Rodil, Master Sommelier; Heide Mäkinen, Master of Wine; Carlos Maribona, gastronomic critic; and chef Paco Morales, from the restaurant Noor.

INTERNATIONAL FINAL OF THE XI JEREZ CUP

The best restaurants from eight countries will compete in a live cooking exhibition, the Copa Jerez Competition, the International Final of the XI Copa Jerez.

Each of the eight participating countries has conducted a rigorous and competitive national selection process, in which the judges highlighted the exceptionally high technical and creative level of the competing teams. The duo from the restaurant Poncio by WM, comprised of chef Willy Moya and sommelier Juan Antonio Suanzes, will represent Spain in the competition.

“Representing Spain at Copa Jerez means a lot to me. Sherry wine is a benchmark of gastronomy, and the entire Poncio by WM team knows this,” declared chef Willy Moya during the presentation of his entry for Copa Jerez.

Mexico, a country participating for the first time in Copa Jerez and highlighting the international character and expansion of the event, will be represented by chef Oswaldo Oliva and sommelier Leticia Álvarez, from the Lorea restaurant, with a menu that stands out for its narrative of mestizaje that fuses traditional Mexican flavors with Jerez Wines.

JEREZ CUP OFF EXPERIENCES

Copa Jerez Forum & Competition is also an opportunity to delve into the Jerez wine culture through exclusive activities developed in the wineries themselves in an additional program known as Copa Jerez OFF.

On the second day, a large brand showroom will be held, featuring around thirty producers and over 300 brands of Jerez and Manzanilla wines for tasting. This edition of Copa Jerez will also offer a range of complementary activities exclusively for conference attendees.
