Crab stick (surimi) spread: creamy and ready in minutes

Sometimes, the best recipes are also the simplest. This crab stick pâté, also known as surimi or crab sticks, is an easy-to-prepare and very impressive appetizer. It works wonderfully as a starter: you can serve it on toast, in canapés, as a sandwich filling, or alongside breadsticks, crackers, or toast.

Ingredients · Servings 4
  • 1/2 onion (small and chopped)
  • 6 crab sticks (or surimi)
  • 3 or 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 1 or 2 tablespoons of ketchup
  • White pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of cream cheese (like Philadelphia)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Method · 35 min
  1. In the blender, put the chopped onion and the chopped crab sticks.
  2. We add the mayonnaise.
  3. We also added ketchup and a little white pepper.
  4. We blend until we obtain a homogeneous mixture.
  5. We check the texture. If we want a creamier pâté, we add a little more mayonnaise or a teaspoon of cream cheese like Philadelphia.
  6. Transfer the pâté to a bowl and let it chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Before serving, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley, if desired. Serve chilled with toast, crusty bread, crackers, or as a canapé filling. Enjoy!
