My grandmother's chocolate cake

Rediscover the flavors of childhood with my grandmother's authentic chocolate cake recipe. A must-have family dessert, simple, light, and intensely delicious, perfect for delighting young and old alike.

Ingredients · Servings 8 people
  • 150 g chocolat
  • 250 g sucre
  • 100g flour
  • 200g butter
  • 1/2 packet of yeast
  • 6 egg units
  • 50g icing sugar
Method · 15 min
  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  2. Melt the chocolate with the butter in a double boiler.
  3. Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. Mix the sugar, yeast, and sifted flour with the yolks.
  4. Next, add the melted chocolate/butter mixture.
  5. Whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then add them to the previous mixture.
  6. Butter your cake tin (you can also sprinkle a little sugar on it, to get a slightly caramelized look on the edges) and pour in your mixture.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes at 180°C (350°F). For the last 10 minutes, cover your cake with aluminum foil to prevent the top from overcooking. To check if it's done, insert a knife into the center of the cake; it should come out clean.
  8. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool.
  9. Once cool, remove the cake from the mold and sprinkle with icing sugar.
